Sage Acharya has had over 10 years of experience working with clients that have had a mental illness and or substance abuse/dependence diagnosis. These have included, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders, personality disorders and alcohol and drug addictions. She has worked with adults from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, as well as a range of ages from 18-75 years old.

 

Sage conducted psycho-educational groups on mental illness and substance abuse. She also provided individual counseling services and case management services to connect clients to resources in the community. At present, she provides counseling in a private practice setting for a number of issues.

 

Sage immigrated to the United States from London, England. She has a personal experience of the challenges associated with adjusting to a new country and a new culture. Her integrity, warmth, and compassion help clients feel safe enough to explore what they want from life and who they want to be.

In the past, Sage worked in a community counseling center, where she conducted psycho-educational groups on mental illness and substance abuse. She also provided individual counseling services and case management services to connect clients to resources in the community.

 

At present, Sage provides counseling in a private practice setting for a number of issues. These include, but are not limited to: adjustment to life transition; substance abuse/dependence; anxiety; depression; low self-esteem; grief and loss.

 

Sage has a master’s degree in community counseling and is practicing as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She is certified as a Registered Dual Disorder Professional (RDDP) and certified by the Institute of Meditation and Psychotherapy to provide guidance in mindfulness techniques.
